Hello, I'd really like to see if someone is "Quickmatching..." in the online list: http://xwis.net/ra2/online

I'm sure it should be fairly easy to implement for Olaf. If not and if it doesn't violate any rules I could make a client that polls the online list and queries those that are neither in a lobby nor in a game channel (FINDUSEREX). Although that would actually need a login which isn't great. I would only do that with permission.

There might be objections to this (from both players and the official side) but if you just add everyone to your Buddy List, you actually get the same info.

What are your thoughts and opinions on this?

Players used to show up as being in Lobby 38_0 (USA Command was Lobby 33_0) or something which was known as the QM lobby.

I don't understand why that was ever changed, although this is years ago now.

I found this very helpful though, would be good to see as if I see someone on the online list in QM I know that within 30 secs I can have a game, otherwise I don't bother

This feature used to be implemented as Willy said. Not sure why it disappeared.

Looks like an error in the online list. Notice the second-last value, which denotes the channel the player is in. While in a lobby or playing this works fine but while Quickmatching it's actually empty. Solutions are to either fix the server or tr17.

Lobby:
14,'VeronicaS',10,1,256,'girly','USA Command',33
Quickmatching:
14,'VeronicaS',10,1,256,'girly','',33
Playing:
14,'VeronicaS',10,1,256,'girly',0,33
Much appreciated. :D

Dont waste your time if you dont see more than 75 people online. It has worked for me.

That's a very bad attitude, bro.

Well, in the meanwhile I've actually created a script that does it for me:

Lgcnabo.png

Pretty cool, huh? :D I hope Josh (DistantQ) doesn't consider it to be cheating that I've been working as both a developer and web developer for like half my life... It doesn't violate any XWIS rule at least (and it technically can't). Trust me, I wouldn't ever use anything that violates the XWIS ruels to my advantage.

Suggested this several months ago but nothing was done about it. It would be really easy for Olaf to implement and would help the players out a lot, especially now with the activity being so low.

I actually came up with the same "fix", when there's no value for the channel, replace it with quick match :D but that's just silly.

This feature could be expanded a lot more, such as displaying how long the player has been waiting in QM for, sending messages from the XWIS control panel to players waiting in QM ("I'll come QM you in 5 min") etc.

I'd like to see a live list of players waiting to get matched in QM. This way you can change nicks (higher or lower in points) to make sure you get matched with whoever's waiting. It's also a way to quickly start the game and go to QM if you see someone trying to find a match.

That, and also this :D :

A feature that I would really like is to see from the ladder page who's currently waiting in QM, but that's off topic :p

Hello, I'd really like to see if someone is "Quickmatching..." in the online list: http://xwis.net/ra2/online

Why?
So you (and 9 others) can look at the QM queue and all decide not to join because it's empty?

Starting from http://xwis.net/ra2/online?pure= is even easier and doesn't require a login. ;)

Solutions are to either fix the server or tr17.

It's a feature, not a bug.

No, so I don't have to log in to QM and wait for 5 seconds to remember that it's not a good idea, as I'd end up waiting for 2 hours.

I guess it'd be cool if a simple tool sitting in the tray would give a popup when someone is in QM based on their number of points. Kinda like an alarm app where u can dismiss or ignore certain players.

quickmatch feature you speak of just keeps players from joining qm when they don't want to play that person, it does promote bailing as qm is a random match up.

most people refuse qm anyways because they learned 5 maps and assume to keep playing those, why use skill when you have a BO smh
