Dear Guests,

Unfortunately XWIS has been the victim of denial of service attacks in the past few days, these attacks were the cause of the recent downtime.

Can we take it that the issues have been resolved?

In computing, a denial-of-service attack (DoS attack) or distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack) is an attempt to make a machine or network resource unavailable to its intended users. Although the means to carry out, motives for, and targets of a DoS attack may vary, it generally consists of the efforts of one or more people to temporarily or indefinitely interrupt or suspend services of a host connected to the Internet.

hmmm wonder who it was =D

My own site was a victim of a similar attack, our ftp access was hacked and all of our data has been deleted from FTP store.

The hacker placed a redirect to a homosexual porn site on our domain. A lot of hours of work has been lost. Seems like the targets have been other C&C sites as well.

Now you have learned to make a backup copy of your work.

First i thought that Martin hacked XWIS so Olaf hacked CnCFTW  :pimp:

We all know who redirects the originals links to porno sites..

Please ask him if the nomey hax that i've requested is ready or not :p

We have no idea as for sure, as all the log files were wiped. All that was left was the index redirect and some empty folders.

Leaving us with just an empty host really. There were only 3 people accounted for who had access to the FTP, one was me, my webmaster and hosting donor, also a contributor.

We had no backups as the project was still young and seems I lack knowledge on hosting sites. :/

I've just heard technical problems so nothing specific as of yet.

Pretty sad people are attacking sites who want to help the community. On the other hand, it really got you up the butt martin. The day before xwis got attacked you told me you were going to make a nick ddosxwis and then went on how you thought xwis was ddos proof. Such a lame party on both sides imo

It's a shame people do this stuff, i don't get it really, what is the fun in taking down a couple of servers and annoy a few thousands of people :/

Go do something useful with the knowledge you got and stop harassing server owners online ;'(

Yes.

I dont know if you registered on Cncftw but he made a topic about ST Staff on there, concerning this topic

http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/177149-my-idea-to-boost-players-in-ra2-and-yuri/#entry1529018

Basically criticising ST staff, mabye he was angry at your comments and had something to do with the downtime.

If what you say is geniunly true, it wouldnt surprise me lol

Yes I saw the topic he made on cncftw it's pretty much BS. And no I don't have an account there.

Basically, Martin lied about getting banned because of that topic and went on that site trying to get people on our bad side. He admittedly said he knew he didn't get banned for the topic to my on Skype and went on to tell me he needed an excuse for people to rage.

[3/8/2013 11:17:01 AM] The Souless One: Cause I've had enough with ST.
[3/8/2013 11:17:03 AM] The Souless One: :)

After that he just goes on talking smack about Grant. I'm not saying Martin did the attacks, but based on what I've experienced with him on recent conversations, I'm skeptical. I can't prove it though, so I wont say he did it.

This chat log has been modified. I was the one who said ''Yeah, banned for defending myself after staff insults my work and helping them."

So good job changing some names on it.

Even if Martin wanted to, I seriously doubt he had the insight for such an attack. He admittedly said he "lacks knowledge on hosting sites".

Even if he had connections to russian mafia I doubt he would want xwis to have attacked. On his website he declared that his goal is to improve activity on xwis. Martin hacking xwis is total nonsense...
