I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this, but is there any policy information regarding player data available?
I'm specifically interested in anything around how C&C Renegade game servers are or aren't allowed to handle player data (IPs, serial hashes, etc) especially in the context of long-term storage and sharing (say, a shady character having access to nearly every player's information for the past however many years). There's essentially nothing available on the topic that I could find, and I am trying to figure out if there's anything I can do to feel safe without having to use a VPN (which many communities explicitly forbid) or start my own game server (which seems impractical for just trying to enjoy some fun matches).
If there is no policy, is there any chance XWIS would consider adopting one so that servers might not be able to share player data, or perhaps might not be permitted to store player data beyond some time barrier (say a year), or perhaps might at the very least have to disclose how player data is used? There's some legitimate use to that kind of data, it does help game server administrators with moderation, but the fact it never expires and isn't at all transparent to the end user is somewhat concerning.
Thanks,
Agent
