Guys il be straight up, this community was my life back in the day, it made me who i am without sounding funny, sometimes i come back to remind myself how commited and hard we all worked and it really on one hand makes me sad, because i miss the brotherhood, it was a different age. Is it possible to export the history from the clan forum, incase it ever gets taken down or deleted? Id be devostated to see all the memories dissapear, the community was a huge part of my life and i still hold it close to my heart. On that note R@PTOR is 19 years old today, cant believe its been 19 - 20 years since YR was released, mind blowing! Cheers for any feed back, hope youre all healthy and well.

Best regards, snipe

Welcome back and nice to see a player from the old days around this old and iconic site that, being realistic, doesn't look very good  :(

As for your question, I have no idea but I hope somebody can help.

Cheers

Nice to see you too bro, i remember seeing you around the forums back in the day, yes sad times, this was a special place once. Very sad, shame CNCNET couldnt merge and we got to use the old WOL style xwis servers.

It's about the content, not about the looks. ;->

I meant in terms of activity, didn't want to offence anyone. XWiS will always be a goodlooking forum.

Yes, she founded Strike Team. We worked together on XWIS / ST for quite some time.

It's hard to believe that was more than 15 years ago.

Hey! I found these two ways:

1) This article links a couple of softwares that supposedly save "websites, including all directories and images". The links use "adfly" (they contain advertisements), but I verified that they go to the official site of the software, after the ad.

You could just search the name of the software on the browser to avoid the ad.

I never tried any of them, though.

https://navidia.wordpress.com/2018/02/06/how-to-download-an-entire-forum-thread/

2) This is the method, that I know works: you can print a website page using the print function. It's a default function in most (afaik) browsers.

Check the menu of your broswer (it's usually in top-right corner), do print, then chose "Save to PDF" (instead of printing), then you can save it.

Of course, the hussle is to save all of the pages, if you have many. One time, spent 1 week to download 200 foums pages.

If there's a feature in XWIS, that allows the site to show like 100 responses per pages, then that would fine. Check it.

***

This is if you want to save your Clan's forum. But if you want to save all Clan's forums, then Olaf could check that, since he has access to them all.

The proper way is to run a local WAMP server so you can host the website locally;

1. install the required components to host a website on your machine...

2. figure out what version of everything is being used to run this place.

3. request a SQL backup of the server hosting files and install the software on your machine

4. - you have a fully working clone of the website that can be visited and used by anyone on the planet... assuming you give them your personal computers / ip/ web info... or set one up online and keep your machine running 24/7...

(this would require server admin assistance and isnt likely to happen unless this place is closing down)

(OR - the easier way - just spider the content you want to keep... )

I preserved a few of my older world of warcraft private server forums... but I haven't had much need for them after the fact aside from reaching out to old friends using the contact info included...

I'm pleased to see this place online still; though sad that the number of players is down to nill
