Those of you that know me already know that I am a very old retro RA2/YR player. I haven't played in a long time due-to losing interest some time ago and I was forced to upgrade to Windows 8 so a lot of my old games wouldn't work anymore, one of which was unfortunately my favourite, Red Alert 2.

I've managed to get the games working to a reasonable standard once again and would love to start playing in the ladder again now that I have the chance to be active once more. Do any of my old friends still play actively? I've been hanging around in the lobby for the odd hour a day looking for some good games to play, but the game is a lot more in danger of dying than I ever remember. It is really, really sad. I used to be able to play RA2 for hours and hours and never get bored, now it's a rarity you will find a hosted game at all that isn't some stupid noob map (God, since when did Funny Big Map become so popular?).

In any case, you'll be seeing me in the lobby a lot more once again. :)

Hey. Good to see you're still active, Josh. :) Is there a link to the latest QM Patch? I'm probably just blind, but I can't find it anymore.

Welcome again! :)

Although I agree Ra2 is lacking somewhat in numbers at times..I feel it's possible for hours of fun still as I do it myself. Maybe try sitting in the QM lobby rather than usa command. =]

I need to play some friendly games before I jump into the QM routine again to wear away the rust I've built up over the years, my friend. :p

LoL. No.  :schmoll: But if there is absolutely nothing else to hand, even I will resort to stoopid maps if I'm really that bored.

it was a question, not a statement, so you can answer or don't.

if you'd like to know however, no I am not a noob and funny big map 4 has less drama then cm and qm.

The answer to your question is you like what you like, if you are as unintelligent as all of the other FBM players I seem to encounter then yes, it makes you a noob. The map doesn't do anything for me personally, but most people I am fortunate enough to meet that play it are complete and utter idiots (noobs).

a noob has nothing to do with intelligence, unless you mean they are unintelligent about the game.

the way someone happens to present themselves reflects only on that, themselves.

and I forgive you because you haven't been on in a while, but your arguments with me will get you absolutely no where, I am a troll, an asshole, and we rebut anything you say to further prove a point that need not to be proven.

I however suggest just keep your comments to yourself, don't enjoy funny big map? no one forces you to join, don't want to cm / qm to get a decent competitive game, then you're shit out of luck budro

Believe me, I am familiar enough with Strike-Team and the RA2 community to know what the people are like, fortunately though there are still some nice people that still hang around. Perhaps using the term "noob map" was a bad choice of words on my behalf, but you're blowing what I said completely out of proportion (Another ST trait). All I said was that FBM has suddenly become a lot more popular than I ever remember it being and that it's a shame that those are the only games that you see hosted in the lobby most of the time. And since I don't enjoy them (as already stated), the odds of me playing them are slim, unless there is nothing else (again, as already stated), and I hate to break it to you, but most of the people I encounter in those games are noobish people with bad attitudes, which I should really be used to by now after playing RA2 for so many years. :schmoll:

I guess it's just a shame that you weren't one of the people that were playing at the same time as me, am I right? I don't doubt there are decent players that like to play something else and different once in a while, but ever since I can remember maps like FBM have been frowned upon. It's strange coming back to something now that consists of 1 or 2 hosted games of FBM when I am used to a long listing of a good variety of matches (it's refreshing to see something else instead of endless Country Swing too, even though I enjoy it). :p

I intend to jump back into the QM/CM because that's where the most challenging and fun games are (normally), but not until I have refreshed my abilities, and I'm not going to be able to do that on FBM games, 'budro'. ;) I am not one of these dramatic people that believes the ladder is the best thing in the world, I am in it for the fun, and that is all, though it would be nice to go back into it fully skilled up instead of getting hammered from the ground up.

Take this post however you desire, my friend. See you in the lobby. :p

Note: I didn't mean any offense to anybody either, so I apologize if anybody took any. :p
