log out and log back in. If you're still chat banned then you probably have the 24hour ban.

chatbans are just unnecessary. THE GAME HAS A BLOODY SWEARWORD FILTER! the anti-swear bot is just ridiculous.

I've been trying to say that for the longest time. Olaf if you come across this post, please consider shutting off the curse bot. Continue banning people for flooding and such but being chatbanned for cursing only discourages people to play online (since some players enjoying using ra2/yr as a social chatroom.) The way I see it, the bans only weaken the activity.

You wont have to. The game has a built in curse filter which is why getting banned for cursing seems even more ridiculous to me.

I totally agree the filter is a little over done but they do that so they can keep the flame as low as possible. I just don't get how i have a 24 hour ban...

As far as I remember, complaining about a chat ban was my very first post on this forum.

Just curious, since all games are udp and don't even touch the server, how on earth would you be able to enforce that stupid filter in-game ;)

Well you're half right, there is NO swearing as long as the in game chat filter is active, so technically even without your silly bot filter there is no swearing. You know, it does the whole %$* for swear words, which honestly is so much better than chat banning, more logical as well.

Yeah I blame chat banning and stupid rules to half the reason why this game is dead anyways.

Olaf if you come across this post, please consider shutting off the curse bot.

From what I can remember, I don't think he is contractually obliged to do so even if he wanted to.

Actually your right, I think it can be attributed to the fact that developers should not run the servers. Just because you can make a forum, doesn't mean you should admin it. Plain and simple.
From here on out, this should be called the Olaf effect; and this is why the cnc franchise is dead

Maybe if you listened to your community and took their opinions into consideration, people wouldn't attack you personally.

I listen and consider, that doesn't mean I do everything some people want.

All jokes aside, if you'd run things logically, there would be no need for 'personal attacks'. You'd have a much better community. If you actually sit there and think about it, you wouldn't have half this forum posting over stupid silly things that you could easily fix. Let's not have power trips to see who's -you-know-what- bigger, try being a part of the community again instead of being over it. I know you have a lot of time invested in developing very useful utilities for the CnC community - because at the time you were apart of it. Now that your "in control" you've put yourself above everyone and things have become all about Olaf; Olaf has final say, when it really should be about the community. With regard to the OP, would you really want to be banned for 5+ hours for saying a word?! Seriously think about it.

Again, this goes back to the Olaf effect - developers should not run communities. It's a completely different field

It appears to me you don't do ANYTHING that anyone wants. Everyone in this thread has spoken out against your silly chat ban filter and yet you seem to dismiss it as simply as "no swearing, period." Doesn't seem like you put much consideration into that.
