1. No, just common sense, if a word is in the swear filter then it will more than likely also be in the kick filter. Offensive is maybe a too strong a word for it, let us use innapropriate. The autokick filter cannot include every swearword as often they would trigger innocent bans. Sometimes relatively innocent words can be put together to make nicks and become innapropriate. ie.ikillj3ws from clan -nazi-
Those are manually added to the kicklist. Also the games ToS states that any nicks made to target individuals, players or admins are against the rules, so they can also be added to the kicklist.
Yes I could just delete them, but by kicking the nick off XWIS and IP banning for an hour for each login attempt added to the fact that the bad nick cannot be deleted untill it is old enough and out of the ladder, they are stuck with 1 less nick to use and acts as a deterrent to making more innapropriate nicks.
Anyone who has a nick that does get kicked when it is innocent can post in the help forum here and I can allow them to bypass the filter. ie: cocktail
2. No. Since banter/flame is an integral part of the game for a lot of people, it's easy to start banter with someone especially someone your competitive with. Now say I was to play you and we had a bit of banter going, then afterwards I was to post screenies of you swearing or saying what some people would consider as serious flaming with dpl's, stats etc and you had not considered taking SS of my chat in defence as the banter was both ways. You could be innocently banned since there is no way for ST to verify if it was 1 way flame or 2 way banter.
The only reports of bad language that bans can be issued on are from analyzers and Olaf, (if they were not fully trustworthy then they wouldn't be in the position they are) but only Olaf really follows through with these. The analyzers don't very often because some people would still suspect the analyzers of triggering the banter with their own chat. Anyone who knows Olaf knows that he would not trigger the banter with his own chat.
You can however post screenies etc in a topic in the fair play forum to warn other players to avoid that player and olaf can go try and get games versus the flamer.
