I have done some of the 1.007 Tournament (and will continue to do so, provided I don't get bored).
Matchup 1
Round 1, Walter (Allied) vs Willy (Allied)
Game 1
Hammer and Sickle
Walter chooses Korea and Willy picks France.
Walter gets the top right position. In normal RA2 this would probably mean GG, but in 1.007 there is no such advantage, as Willy discovers to his delight:

Walter was offensive for much of the opening stages of the game, dominating with Eagles and Rockies (and a misjudged Nighthawk drop):

Eventually both players move their MCVs to the other start position and set up expansions. Both place naval yards, but Walter was faster and this eventually allows him to dominate the sea (despite losing his first Aircraft Carrier):

Walter decides to push on Willy's base at this stage. The forces of both players are even, but Walter's Prism tanks ultimately helps him overcome Willy's Mirage-heavy army:

However, Walter's surviving forces are negligible so he's forced to retreat to his base. He remains there for a long period of time, whilst pressuring Willy's northern base with Aircraft Carriers and a Tanya (but meeting a stout defence).
Finally Willy grows impatient and begins to harass Walter's southern expansion with Rockies and then a force of Grizzlies and IFVs. This draws Walter's Mirage force away from his main base, seemingly leaving it poorly-defended. Willy sees his opportunity and attacks both bases at once, hoping to break Walter before his naval advantage becomes too strong:

Sadly Walter brings in numerous Rockies seemingly from nowhere to defend his main base, and his Mirages easily repel the mainly-Grizzly force in the south. With Willy's offensive utterly broken and Aircraft Carriers pounding his base, he leaves.

Game 2
Valley of Gems
Both players choose America and do their best to deal with the unusual map. Walter has played it a few a times before, but Willy reports that he is experienced on the map, having played it in the early days of YR XWIS. Both players choose America, no doubt expecting the game to be decided early.
After the extremely long game on Hammer and Sickle Willy vows to finish this game as quickly as possible, and goes for an all-out rush. This he does admirably, securing his half of the Derricks more quickly than Walter, then storming Walter's base with (initially) 2 Grizzlies and a handful of Rocketeers. Walter is taken by surprise and, despite driving off Willy's Rockies effectively, cannot fight off the Grizzlies and Paradrop too. Game 2 ends in less than 4 minutes.

Game 3
Heck No Lames
Almost a reversal of the first game, with Willy picking Korea and Walter switching first to Britain then Germany, before settling on France.
Willy dominates the game early on (as Walter did) striking hard and fast with 4 Eagles and Rocketeers. However it all seems to unravel rather quickly as Willy loses his AFC not once but twice to Harriers (who seem to be performing as though Walter himself had picked Korea!).

However by this stage Willy has stretched to the middle gems and has mined a good portion of it. Walter decides to put the pressure on and Cannon-crawls into the centre of the map. However Willy's tank advantage is too strong by this stage, and he crushes Walter in the tank battle, away from the reach of the Grand Cannons.

Willy finishes off Walter's base (with the aid of an elite IFV) to take the series 2-1 and he advances to the next round.

And don't forget to sign up for Group B of the 1.007 Tournament, places are limited!
