Hi !

If you run RA2 on XWIZ with Vista, please tell me (us) how you did it :confused1:

When logging on to XWIZ, we get "update is required" even if we have v1.006. Fails in downloading this.
Placing a patch manually (suggested other places in ths forum) in a patch-folder did not solve the problem (the patch got deleted after starting game - so I think it got installed).
"Run as administrator" did not solve the problem. Run in compabilitymode as Win98, 2000, XP did not solve it either.

Hey.
You could get the First Decade collection which is said to fix the problem.
You might also wanna try this:

I got it solved by properly installing the WOLAPI (online interface).
Download this package: http://rapidshare.com/files/15729104/wolapi.zip.html
and extract it anywhere you want

Now you have to grant yourself some permissions:

1.- run "secpol.msc"
2.- Expand "Local Policies"
3.- Click on the "Security Options"
4.- On the Right PAN, select all items with the name "User Account Control" and either "disable" it or "do not prompt" mode for this.
5.- Restart the computer.

Now run the batch file from the package I said, and try if RA2 works.

Thanks!

This solved the problem!

But when joining a game, the list of players, country, color etc is shrinked
It's difficult to see all information, but at least I see country and color, so it's not a big problem, only strange.
Maybe I can post a screenshot later.

Vista makes it not easy for us RA2-gamers.

Ok, I am a programmer so I had these problems. But it is simple to solve. Here are the instructions:

1- Find the First Decade Launcher on your desktop.
2- Once you found the icon for it RIGHT CLICK it
3- A pop-out menu will appear
4- On the menu click PROPERTYS
5- A window will appear
6- On this window click the tab: CAPADIBLITY
7- The in the check box marked RUN CAPADIBILITY MODE
8- Exit the window
9- It will now get rid of some issues
10- Run the game, see if t gone away

Hi !

Tried compability-mode as Windows 98 and Windows XP SP2, both didn't help.
I have attached a screenshot showing the problem.

Anybody know what could causing this?

I really don't understand the method you posted. What you mean with 'Run secpol.msc', because I can't find it in the thingy you provided (zipthingy) and it doesn't seem to be an option in Start>Run neither.

help please?

Try browsing for the file and doubleclick the file.
It should be in the folder c:\windows\system32

But it may not be included in Home-version....ask someone with vista to send the file to you (I have XP on the computer I'm sitting on right now).

The file is nowhere to be found. The files that come close are: seclogon.dll and secproc.dll

Just to be sure, If I run this file ( I need to get it from someone though) will it solve these problems?

Thanks for the help, but unfortunately that is probably not the problem. It is not my system that crashes, only ra2 does.

-- Whenever I try to run the game as Administrator, I get this btw: [ ***FATAL*** String Manager failed to initilaized properly ] (yes it that exact spelling)

All the problems so far are:

1. Ra2 refuses to remember account information. It asks for my password EVERYTIME I login.
2. Whenever I finish a game I get 'requesting channel list' OR 'Disconnecting from Westwood online'. I have to cancel this or it will show forever.
3. When I have canceled this message, it is impossible for me to get online again. It will say 'fetching server list'.

4. This results in me having to close ra2. Closing ra2 is not possible on my PC. RED ALERT 2 WILL CRASH A 100% OF THE TIME.
5. It takes other programs with them, such as MSN Messenger. Whenever I do a check on MSN, it says my standard gateway has gone offline. MSN trys to fix this, but fails miserably. But this time, I get blank results in my internet explorer as well. I think it's fair to say Ra2 messes something up within my router.. ??

Could someone PLEASE help me?

Just Disable UAC my typing in Msconfig in the run box.
Run > msconfig > Tools > Disable UAC

Hi! Do you still have that package? It would be great if you could upload it again. Thanks!
