When you line up your tanks and click oon some land net to the enemies tanks, so they can move into battle, you tanks conveniently go into a line perpendicular to the enemies line
I can't stop my tanks from going into single file when I'm attacking. Please help.

Never let your tanks attack in a line
Make sure you have as many tanks shooting as possible.
Don't move too much, it causes your tanks to turn their turrets.
Use fodder.
-Use Dogs gi/cons early game.
-Sovs have a huge fodder advantage with their desos, but the Allies have rockies which forces him to build Flack and prevents Sovs from
deploying desos.
-Make sure his tanks are firing at your fodder and make sure yours aren't firing at his.

if you see 1 of his tanks sticking out, then group your tanks and then click to attack it
if its like 4 tanks vs 4 tanks or less
then click on the tanks rather than move them around
p.s.
when you can always use deso's as fodder as oppose to cons and dogs, deso's own them hard

2) desos as fodder (include all the units u have , even miners can work [indeed no more ore in the map])
3) make 1 team of them (ctrl +1 )
4) move them in 1 big group (dont let spare)
5) try keeping the tanx still and moving the fodder
6) apocs can own if u know what ur doing (lol, just worthy against newbs and OVERPROUD 'elite' players)
Those r my advices, keep in mind the practice makes the master (been rusty isnt the best state )
