My screen freezes completely 10 secs into a skirmish game

Greetings old CnC friends.

I decided to come back to ra2 after being away for gazilion years. I installed ra2 from my "the first decade" game cd. Then i logged into the game and went straight to skirmish so i could practice and try to remember BO's for different maps. 10 secs into the game and the game decides to freeze completely, anyone knows what the issue is?

I used The First Decade cd. I run the game on Windows 8, on my Intel core i7 Acer laptop.

I didnt have the same issue when playing Tiberian Sun, never experienced any game freezes there.

Hope you guys know what the issue is and can direct me

i need help with this question, it might seem VERY stupid, but no matter what the %&#! i write as answer it wont accept :S maybe its the site or maybe im writing it in a wrong way.. but how would you answer this reqistration question:

If you have tw0 apples, and I take 0n3, how many do you have l3ft?

I lag bad online, as well in skirmish [Expired]

When i go to skirmish and play it gets laggy as soon as there is activity, or when there are many tanks and units in one place.

And when i go online i lag from the get go, a bad lag. Yet i have 32mg internet and a pc that is good, so im a bit confuzed.

What is the problem and how can i fix this?

btw i tried the videbackbuffer=no and it didnt help.. then i tried putting that drawdll file in my ra2 directory and my screen got all black as soon as i was in the game
