Is the game dead or not?

I have joined again after 7 years but no one is online but only one player: Fctrut1  on red alert 2.

 

It seems that the game and the server is up and running but no players...

Everyone is on CnCNet. There was like 1000+ players online there the other day.

Also pros of xwis

auto ss,  game spy, reports section, bans for ffg and tourneys, to help keep it cheat free

Except CnCNet doesn't have to worry about all that stuff since the server is already pretty much cheat free.

Also many Xwis pros play on CnCNet

I keep the first and the last proposal, the other 3 remaining are not really so important as long as you give people the posibility of a easy install, updates and technical support as XWiS should be considered as the classic server with original lobbies and everything to play like the old days.

 

But yes, times change and everything advances, so you have to give the players what they demand and evolve assuming this fact, and this requires hard work, once again...

What would you say are some of the pros of Xwis over CnCNet besides nostalgic lobby interface and menus?

Off the top, I can only think of these:

- Badges

- Clans, including clan tags, hosting clan matches in the Xwis lobby, and a clan ladder

- Hosting QM ladder games right from the Xwis lobby (I think you can only do this on Ra2. I've forgotten already.)

- Dedicated server as opposed to p2p on CnCNet (I think means faster games and better chances of people loading into games.)

- Nicknames assigned to game serial codes, so others can't steal your nickname.

- Chat commands through the lobby and gamerooms. Also using commands to chat with someone while playing in-game.

- Lobby commands to check peoples ladder stats i.e. points, rank, win / loss ratio.

I admit the quick match system is kind of annoying on CnCNet with a separate GUI popping out at you to start games. I think this is because CnCNet is p2p.

Crazy, good to see you mate, Yakir played under IsraelYak, he was actually in T.rex not R@PTOR, we were all in T.rex i led half the clan and Arcroyal led the other half, he kicked all the old loyal members to bring in disloyal flavour of the week guys, it destroyed the community and created a lot of rifts and drama, all the good guys who had been together for years like myself, dudu, azumlugor, DragonXP1, D4rkB0rg, Zocker left for various top clans like OM3RTA, OKTRON and i made R@PTOR and took half of T.rex with me . RyanTwizer and Yakir were the only 2 to stay but they retired a few months later. Spent a good 6 months fighting and killing off the rest of T.rex, got a lot of hard memories, it was a huge struggle and thats how R@PTOR was born, i bet most people didnt know that

 

I remember a lot but its starting to get fuzzy with age. R@PTOR was a struggle, the whole clan scene was a struggle at the time .... to bring in top players, organise and compete at a top level, it dominated my life, when all my friends were chilling, drinking and doing drugs with no worries or responsibility, we were pushing ourseleves to our outer limits, finding out what it took to succed. I failed all my exams because of this game, but i didnt need them, R@PTOR and this community taught me more about myself and life than any exam could. I put a lot of my success down to this game and community thats how big it was for me.Good to see you dude

Ha! that sounds fucking epic. I wish I was around during early WOL. I started on Xwis back in 2007 i think. I started Sed0na clan sometime around then. Was fun as hell while it lasted. I think around 2012-2013 was when the YR activity started to dip. I took a 2 year hiatus and came back in 2015ish to hear about the new server CnCNet. I've been on there ever since then.

Are you playing on CnCNet Snipe? You should at least join the YR discord if you're not on there already.

A merger needs to happen.

That or Xwis needs to:

- Fix compatibility issues with Ra2 and YR on Windows operating systems.

- Allow 8 player games or more on Xwis YR including picking an observer slot instead of a game faction.

- Implement similar re-balance patches as CnCNet YR and other pre-game options

- Bring the new official game maps from CnCNet onto Xwis and allow HD map previews on custom maps.

- Maintaining constant updates and support for Ra2 and YR

Until then, people will be sticking with CnCNet.
