How do you avoid all the internet games I play with friends from dumbing down to 640x480 resolution? 

 

I had to rig my game to play correctly on a 4k display enough already lol.

 

The ddraw file thats floating around makes my game completely unplayable, so I hope thats not the solution.

Download this ra2 it has ra2 resolution patch

I have done that also. When I host a game the resolution is perfect for me. But people joining are forced down to 640x480.  My friend is the same way too. Whoever hosts the game gets to keep their screen resolution.

Their ddraw (37kb) is much more stable and works perfectly (like windows 7, yes you hear correctly) - https://github.com/hifi/cnc-ddraw

 

Nice work to ra2 version to cnc too (same voice, glitches and balance).
