Hey guys.

For some reason after upgrading recently to Windows 10 Pro (x64) with the help from Microsoft's Tech Support (as the free upgrade period had passed) I haven't been able to launch or play RA2/YR or TS. RA2 and YR just doesn't launch from Origin (but the process "game.exe" appears in Task Manager). I've read through some Windows 10 fix threads and tried those methods with no success. Not quite sure what else to do.

TS launches but the menu does not appear at all. The XWIS version of RA2/YR launches but again, no menus at all. I've also tried to apply the graphics and resolution patches with no success.

Support would be greatly appreciated here.

Thanks!

Install W7 dual-boot..

That's not really a "solution" as it is a lot of hassle just to play the game again. :/

Then you shouldn't have downgraded in the first place ;)

Of course you could also ask MS to improve compatibility.. or you could ask EA the same question.

"Downgraded"? You mean "upgraded". Asking either MS or EA such a question would prove fatally useless. We all know what EA are like..

Edit: I might go full nostalgia and install XP on a separate drive..

You can't play RA2.. how could you ever call that an upgrade?

Ah, I see what you mean! RA2/YR/TS are the only 3 games out of many I have that don't work on W10. :L

Are you trying to say RA2 is most important? :p

You need to disable Origin In-Game before applying any fixes, or else it will go back to the broken default state.

Bibber's launchers are a must: http://bibber.eu/downloads/cnc-ultimate-collection-launchers/

Also, TS needs the patch from CnCNet to work right; with it, you'll get TSConfig.exe with which you can play around until it works. https://forums.cncnet.org/index.php?topic=3438.0

I have tried the launchers, they don't work. I've also tried disabling Origin In-Game, it still doesn't work.

Tried running either in a window? Are the latest XWIS Win8/10 patches applied correctly, with the compatibility settings? Tried updating your graphics card drivers?

Did TS work with Funky's patch?

I use the Origin version instead of the XWIS multiplayer download version, but all patches for 8/10 are installed correctly and compatibility settings are set. Video drivers are up to date.

TS loads but comes up with this:

Just get a cd crack or search ppmsite for the "ts No-cd patch".

In TSConfig.exe, you have the option of enabling no-CD.

I've installed Windows 7 on a separate hard disk for RA2/YR/TS. Even though it's more hassle than it's worth but I doubt I'll get them working on Windows 10.

That's quite naive. Most people can and are playing on windows 10.

How is that naive? I've done almost everything people have suggested with no positive results for getting it to work on Windows 10. Windows 10 clearly has issues.

It's true that it's possible to play on Windows 10 but one may need to through the hassle of using third party ddraw.dll's.

The playing experience on Windows 8/10 is very slow and in full screen you're not even able ALT-TAB out of the game. So it's not worth it. I was running Windows 8.1 and 10 last year but decided to go back to 7. It was a good decision.

I think running Windows 7 on a separate drive is the best way to go.

I'm such a retard! - So it seems that the game installation was corrupted. I had Mental Omega installed but missing filesso I reinstalled the game and it's working now. (Still on Windows 10).

Thanks to all for the help nonetheless!
