Hi there,

I'm having some problems getting ra2 to play online (v1.006 bought from origin on windows 8.1).  I have created nick however when I try to log in by pressing internet > custom match I'm taken to a screen saying 'fetching server list' and then after some time I'm told that it 'could not connect to westwood online', so I am unable to log in or join a lobby.

I don't think it's a firewall problem as I allowed it as an exception and even tried to get online with my firewall temporarily switched off but still nothing.

I tried everything on this page but I wasn't able to run ra2 after I applied the changes - http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/182360-cc-red-alert-2-windows-8-windows-10-fix/

I've tried running the files in compatibility mode and when I went to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts I couldn't see any entries that were obviously westwood related.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, thanks! :)

Remove any line with xwis.net or servserv.westwood.com as well.

Try the version of the game found here: http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/177134-downloads/

Thanks for your replies :)

Sustanon - there are only a coupe of entries and neither of them say westwood or xwis.

Hardman - I've tried downloading the multiplayer version and I encounter the same problem.

Any other ideas of what might be causing this?

Cheers

Do you still have this problem?

Is XWIS set as your preferred server under my information?
