Hey guys! I cant seem 2 play with my friend, we both get this "waiting for other players". We are running the "origin free version".

But the thing is we can play with other, but we can connect to others lobbys. Do we have 2 portforward or something?.

a few questions to understand your situation better-

do you play each other via: "internet" --> custom lobby --> make a game, and the other person joins and it loads successfully?

can you describe the way joining other lobbies fails? what is the exact error message? what OS are you using?

Yep i go into Internet > Custom Lobby > Make a game.

He can join, we can select country 2 play with and everything but then when im pressing "Start game" or what ever it says a pop-up windows comes up

and on it it says "Waiting for other players to connect" - and nothing happends after that. He can't get in either.

I am currently using Windows 8.

Edit: Nvm i can't even play in other random lobbys, still "waiting for players to connect". My friend can join others tho.

Please try this as s starting point:

1) Ensure mph.exe is allowed through your firewall, this connects players in custom games

2) run ra2.exe (or if xwis version 'red alert 2.exe') as administrator and in compatibility mode for xp service pack 3. These settings are found in ra2.exe properties

Yep! mph.exe is already done, that's the first thing i did.

Done aswell, when I'm trying 2 use xwis ra2 version it wont work either - when i join a lobby and just before the loading screen it just dies "Red Alert 2 has stopped working".

I can't get the Origin free version 2 work. Hmm .. This is annoying as hell!

Remove wsock32.dll from your game directory if it exists.

Yes i tried to portforward. Didn't affect anything, or atleast nothing that was noticeable.

Interesting. If you've checked firewall, portforward, DMZ, antivirus (internet security suite) settings then there's not much you can do.

You can try using a different router, see if that helps. You or a friend sure have one laying around somewhere.

[...] portforward, [...]

There's no use in port forwarding. Why don't people understand that after 15 years? What are you going to forward in the first place?

Port-forwarding has worked for me before.

Go tell that to the site owners of portforward.com

Now when im trying 2 play it on my laptop instead I get an error that says "Red Alert 2 has encountered an internal error and is unable to continue normally." This error comes up when im trying 2 connect to a custom game.
