hi guys

 

I used to play pretty actively from 04-09 but am having problems playing the game

 

I have an original disc but it doesn't seem to work...

 

any links on how to set up the game from scratch?

i am running on a laptop with windows 8...not sure if that would be a problem?

Try downloading the XWIS version.

 

Delete the ra2 you have installed and download ra2 from here http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/177134-downloads/

 

There are plenty of issues with windows 8, I think there is a thread around here where people solved some issues, just search for it.

Windows 8 gave me hell. I reinstalled Windows 7 just to play Ra2 lol, plus wasn't a big fan of W8 anyways, so I'm glad I did it.

Definitely check out the troubleshooting thread for Windows 8, other players have said that it worked for some and not for others.

ok well i installed it...i got a message saying it failed..

 

anyway it did do somthing because i have a folder with everything saved in it - i double click ra2.exe and itopens up but is now stuck on a screen with music in the background...the music brings back memories at least lol

 

so yea....it seems like it is half working unfortunately....gutted

Miss the games with you - I have been on youtube recently watching Tim's streams and it has brought back some awesome memories!

 

Niek - the game isn't working unfortunately. It loads up when I press ra2.exe and I hear the music and a background feature but it doesn't let me click the buttons as they are invisible (online, options, campaign) etc etc

do you have windows 8? and not 8.1? because on my tablet with windows 8.1 ra2 works, without any modifications, maybe you can upgrade your windows 8 to 8.1 ( if its not 8.1 already)
