@offtopic is it possible to stop renaming the maps on every small update?

Olaf's method renames all / most of the maps in xwis.mmx when a single map is updated or added, this breaks compatibility with static map patch installations. :'(

I use one because I re-ordered the entire map list by Player counts eg: (2-4) and then alphabetically.

Which I wanted to include in the unofficial patch. The current list is too long and in a mess.

Maps don't get updated / renamed on every update, but when the maps renderer is updated all previews might change and then everything will get a new name.

The current one makes it easier to look up a map by name.

Maybe the addition of a search bar will help all of this.... is it even possible?

Why does the renderer even need updates, ain't it complete at this point?

Yes, but only though injecting code though a dll (which Olaf already does), but it's too much work maybe.

If I recall correctly the Ares Yuri's Revenge project already has decompiled the game to the point where this should be possible.

Anyway /topic hijacking/

Bugs in the renderer occassionaly get fixed (or worsened, who knows)..

Ares possibly being able to simplify the task for YR implies exactly nothing about the ability to do so for RA2.

It'd be trivial in an external frontend.
