Hey guys :)

 

heres a new map I made- "Boracay" inspired from my recent vacation.

 

I've done some play testing on it already and I'd like to get your thoughts!

Half n Half!

 

I personally have never been a huge fan of naval type maps. This does look pretty interesting though. I can see just a straight camp fest in land and war in the water.  How did your games play out?

It's small so the soviet press is very hard to stop, also there are a decent amount of starting gems and two oils.

For allieds there are some interesting options- some of which do involve navy- but I don't want to say too much

Niek I planned to make it like the real beach I was staying on, but that would require way too many garrisons so my hotel is not seen.

Looks nice :D Please don't stick it in qm until it's tested. And remove reconcile until the ridiculous miner bug is fixed :p

Yeah, this will force navy battles really early on.. atleast if you want to defend your oils. I'd like to play a few games on it before I make a clear judgement of the map. 

 

Also, good catch on the MCV part too. I didn't even think of it. The MCV should be centered a bit more in land to avoid this problem.

You can always manually move your MCV at start if it bothers you, otherwise it's a nice way to tickle your opponent, nothing more.

I'm also quite sure it was intentional on Josh's part.

 

Though I'm pretty sure the oil harass will be pointless with all the gems, short distance, flat map, sovs will have an easy time, especially with the $1000 bonus from first capture of the oils.

I suspect it will feel a bit like heck TvT with a chance of late game naval.

Actually agree with this. (haven't played it yet though)

the map is very narrow, and there's lots of fast cash, so the early sov rush quite hard to stop, for this reason I might consider making some of the starting gems into ore.

 

I placed the mcv's vulnerable to destroyers intentionally, if a player is clever they may be able to actually kill the opponent's mcv this way. If not, perhaps they can force a soviet player to move their mcv before their second warfactory (taking out some of the sov punch) 

 

don't underestimate what pressuring a derrick can do..

 

the houses, huts, and walls are placed in relation to each other to produce comparable defence for each. The huts are very weak and so far the testing hasn't found their asymmetrical placement to be an issue. If they become a problem they can be adjusted any time. 

 

thanks for the feedback guys- I'll try to add this to the patch (not in qm) for testing. I'll post again here when it's up :)

Nice. The map looks so much better in the video than the image and it was good to begin with. Another great map Josh, good stuff.

The destroyers are going to be a pain in the butt lol

Is it even possible to defend against destroyers (here)?

Map is too small for my monitor, could you increase the height a little?

One or two cells I think.
Subs suck against destroyers and subs can't attack the derricks, it's an uneven capability.

I think if allies goes early naval to harass derricks and buildings soviets could go quick 2 war even without the derricks with gems there. That would make it hard for allies to defend against having spent money elsewhere.

Nothing a couple of dogs, pillboxes and paras can't fix judging based on the video.
