XWIS has always offered more than cncnet. XWIS has been around longer than cncnet ever has.

i dont know whats wrong with some people nowadays because they're never thankful, they should be grateful for olaf for running this server still and making it alive.

Hey - just wanted to clarify the server you mentioned patches out cheats, so its the complete opposite in-fact. 

 

In my opinion it would be most beneficial for the community to see CnCNet/XWIS combine their efforts in someway instead of becoming what others see as direct competition between one another - but thats a conversation for Olaf and hifi, and the technicalities behind it.

We never got the support from staff on here regarding development in makin game playable for upcoming years (not just compatiblity-wise.)

 

Cncnet organization has opened whole new level of everything in their community. It's pretty cool.

Staff (both XWIS and CnCNet) consists of ordinary people from the community. There's just never been anyone before that has done the work on TS that's now being done.

if xwis was free to play xwis would have the bigger numbers of players, since most players on cncnet dont have a legal cd key to play, they just downloaded the game, so they can only play there, thats why its full of noobs.

Legally, I think only EA can decide if it wants to make the game free or not.

I heard that EA is still sponsoring this server, not sure how, but If OLAF makes the game free to play, it means no more income, no more sponsor.

Interesting. Do you mean cheating will be completely impossible?

There's always a way to cheat, if you really want to and posess a high level of technical skill required to make cheats work.

But to the general userbase the cheats simply won't work.

Why does XWIS lack these anti-cheat features? Are they hard to implement?

XWIS lacks these anti-cheat features due to the fact that they break compatibility with the original game.

Namely version 1.006 that was released in 2001.

If the fixes were to be applied, then XWIS would require it's userbase to download a dedicated client or a patch for the original game, otherwise the player's couldn't play against each other.
