[HCKiD]

hey guys my brother has problems with the installation of the game.

he did dl it from here and when he wants to start it he gets this error message unable to set the video mode

has anyone a solution for this ?

he uses vista

its a non-uptodate computer-my laptop is down and until the new one arrives i use this old acer pc

Disable UAC.

 

By non-uptodate do you mean that it doesn't have latest windows updates or that it doesn't have the latest hardware?

Yes, they are. What res is set in ra2.ini? Try setting your desktop mode to 16-bit.

okay guys we are one step further.

I tookthe last 2 advises and now i can start game-but when i try to start qm or enter lobby 

the display turns into black,switches on destop with message of mainexecutive error...

 

what could be the next step?

i changed compatility to Win98/Menot it works.Buuuut resolution can not be changed....

type 'hires' at main menu then go to options and check if you can select other resolutions.

The compatibility settings are un-tested on Windows Vista, but they are similar to Win98 mode. (if you use them you should turn off win98 mode).

To install the compatibility settings just run "optimize.bat". It will make a system restore point in-case anything goes wrong.

Lastly you will need to rename "Red Alert 2.exe" to "game.exe" when using the compatibility settings, as they were set for the CD version of the game.

Res-patch didnt download again-last step was setting back on 32bit mode and hires at beginning!

 

but i ´, looking forward to recieve my new laptop-maybe i need some help then with win 8.0 or 8.1 !^^

The res patch download works normally for me.

i play onlinenormally and after that match i am totally disconected...

Are you using the XWIS download of RA2 or other?

I would suggest using the CD (original not TFD) version in your case.

also i disabled UAC

 

maybe i have another choice to sovle connection problems-i will report it 2 you

What's with the 32 bit mode... Your comp is most likely on 32bit anyway. ( you don't need to set any special modes ).

okay-it runs on 32bit mode (it was even necessary-was the last step that it works)

but connections problems after one game still there, even firewall off didnt help

have you an idea?
