Is it just me or does mixing tanks and dogs lead to games mostly based on luck and a lot of camping?

It certainly is a function that also has "luck" playing a roll in it, however, there is in fact skill involved with facing armies that have many dogs.

I used to get pretty irritated that people would just spam dogs and then just rush their tanks into you without any thought on TC whatsoever.

 

I eventually adapted to play with it and against it.

 

It's something hard to defend, but if you defend good against it, think about the amount of money they spent on dogs.

part of the game, nothing unfair at all, money your enemy spend on dogs, you can also spend that amount of money on dogs  if he mass dogs and attacks you, just when you are out of cash, he simply outplayed you, its a strategy.

As far as I remember. Sell mcv + mass dogs is the reason I rarely came over from YR back in the day lol.

You're right and I feel exactly the same way, but I guess we have to change with the times.

 

Controlling fodder is not really that 'lucky'

 

This is also right, but the way some people use their tanks mixed with dogs, you'd swear that they just go in, close their eyes and hope for the best.

ive played ra2 and yr for 12 years or so, I remember fodder being very part of the game. It wasn't like someone just used fodder once and it caught trend. in ra1 people used fodder a lot, massing either bazooka men or dogs ect. ive also seen fodder used in both ra3 and cnc3.

 

I find the best way to control the fodder is to have about 4 desos in the mix of your tanks. that will learnt them lol

Fodder has always been a part of the game but never at the ratios they are now, where you have 10 tanks with 20 dogs.

This sometimes makes luck play a bigger part than skill.

If I remember correctly, 2 war rushes were popular 14 years ago, not massive fodder.

The game is played different now, we can't deny that.

I'm not against it or for it btw.

Higher reso, ppl there increased tc's, and the new more open maps all contribute to more fodder play.

I think it's more like game speed being too fast and units being to dumb to properly control stuff.

well i dunno why or when exactly it started (probably somewhere around 07-08) where people started to abuse fodder, which ends up in massing dogs mixing up with tanks, driving randomly around and hoping for the best.

 

it never used to be like that before, you usally had 3-4 dogs scouting, and later on used them as fodder.

 

its the high resolution which killed the game, believe it or not, splits, tankcontrol and constant pressure gets kinda useless because people see the whole map and got alot of time to react.

i wouldnt mind the dogspammers, because they usually got no skills/control over the game/units, but the highsight over the map gives them the advantage they need.

 

the symmetrical maps also play a big role, because now everyone has the same bo's, amount of units and same gaming style, which usually ends up in massing tanks n dogs and driving in randomly.

so why the same people end with the the same W/L ratio every month, they just have the same luck month in and month out?

 

it's a useless topic, if people are too worried about fodder, ive got a quick fix

 

if you like sovs - use desolators (they're extremely op anyways)

if you like allieds - use rockies or snipers

 

issues solved.

you cant just use desos, because tanks n dogs move way faster, which means an aggressive player gotta step back to a campy deso player just because the other player is spamming dogs and abusing it.

 

but as mentioned, high-resolution and symmetrical maps changed the game, unit/mapcontrol and splits are not a factor anymore as they used to be.

 

anyways im coming on to play some, saw 130 ppl, weee xD
