Hey guys,

I'm trying to install RA2 with WineSkin on Mac OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks but am getting the following errors when trying to "test launch" it:

LastRunWine.log:

Unfortunately it won't run and am unsure why. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated...and hope there are some users whom play RA2 on Mac.

err:module:attach_process_dlls "WSOCK32.dll" failed to initialize, aborting

Is there a wsock32.dll in the RA2 dir? There shouldn't be.
You should find out why this one is failing though, your might try to contact the Wine guys.

Then you need one and register it in Wine.

You need either a wsock32.dll that doesn't use IPX, or you need to add IPX support to your OS. I believe there's a kernel module "ipx" on debian and deriviates.

The most commonly used wsock32.dll (from understorm.net/Nyerguds) breaks online gameplay on xwis though, but there's multiple versions out there which may give better results.

Did he mention LAN?

He did mention an error that's saying that the dll is a required component for the game's function..

A person as knowledgable as you on the inner workings of the game should understand that.

Here's something that might help : https://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=10688
