So I had a friend just send my old Dell through a Factory Reset.. Before the reset, I never had any problems playing the game. I bought a brand new copy, installed it, install went fine and when I go to play, I get the infamous black screen after Red Alert 2 splash page.

Can anyone help me out or give me suggestions?

The only thing I've done to the computer since was reset was download RA2.

Thanks,

Shane

go to your .ini file in your registry and under the video section add VideoBackBuffer=no

be sure to save. You shouldn't get the black screen unless your OS is windows 8. Sounds like the game is just freezing.

also be sure your graphics option and is set to maximum performance. be sure to run as administrator and all that jazz.

The one thing you forgot to do was read what a factory reset does.

You'll need to update your drivers to the latest.

Check Windows update as well.

Everything was probably restored to the old versions.
