Not to be a pain in the ass, but Ra2 competition in QM is eerily similar to YR back in 2008/2009.
It seems now, every month...
1. 1-2 of the elite players play, if that (Tomi... Marko... Latof... Etc.)
2. The old VERY good players seem to play 'just for fun' a few days of the month and don't care about rank
3. The average skilled players who are now finally able to achieve higher rankings begin to take the game very serious and compete against the newbs that are left.
4. Activity is slowing, especially competitive activity in QM.
Edit: One more observation - ~800 points is all it takes for rank 1, similar to how YR was in 2008 or 2010
I've been able to achieve top 10 status the past two months in a very limited amount of time and games and barely trying. This to me, signifies the end of Ra2 as it is similar to how YR was in 2008/2009.
Although, I enjoy it, I get to beat up on the newbs who think they are good now because they are achieving higher ranks and it is easy points for me.
*note, not calling anyone in particular a newb. Just making an observation that the only rank that (somewhat) matters now, should be rank 1, not rank 3.
To illustrate my point further: http://xwis.net/ra2/prev/pl/xxxprepxx/
I do not think I beat one top, top skilled player. Hell, I didn't even compete against a serious top player, especially in my last few games. Notable opponents that I defeated are pizzaguru, sandberg12). Notable loses to deadstart and zigzag.
I was rank 6 by defeating, essentially, no one who had a chance to be in the top 10. HOWEVER, If I were to compete for rank 1, then I would of had to defeat top skilled players. But I was happy (with my very limited time) to just achieve rank 6 for old times sake.
