Ok so i have posted twice in the windows 8 thread stating that the xwis version of ra2 don't work on windows 8.1, i have seen mods and olaf in the topic so they must of read my post yet i get no reply >.<

Is there any chance OLAF that i can have my serial for ra2 that is associated with my account so i can install ra2 and play again online i don't do tauny matches just friendly's on random maps with lots of money

So please could i have the serial so i can install ra2 again and continue to play online, as i don't want to be forking out for another serial when i already bought one, and i can get a coppy or ra2 cheaper than buying a new serial.

All i need is my serial that is linked with my account that's all it's not much to ask for.

Hope i get a reply this time, thanks Chelciexo

Hi Chelciexo,

https://xwis.net/temp/Red_Alert-2-0.0.0.exe should work in W8. If it still doesn't, let us know.

Have you tried installing Windows 7? :p
What resolution are you using?
It shouldn't be that laggy.

Tried setting [video] VideoBackBuffer = No in ra2.ini?

1080p reso im using and i dont have windows 7 i just upgraded from windows 7 to 8 when i bought my new PC.

Checked for a folder called ra2.ini and i only got a folder called RA2 it never said anything about VideoBackBuffer = No so i tried to paste it in there taking the spaces out and it said access denied.

Is there no chance you can send me my serial through a message on here, so i can try installing ra2 from a disc that i have of years ago.

There is a file in the game folder called "ra2" it's a text file (it doesn't have the game icon the one that does is ra2.exe, by default windows doesn't show the file extensions namely the .ini).

In that file find the [Video] section and at the bottom of that section add a line VideoBackBuffer=No.

You can install the game with any serial, it's the xwis account that matters for online play, not the serial used to install the game.

You need to disable UAC. http://www.tekrevue.com/tip/how-to-disable-user-account-control-in-windows-8/
Afterwards you'll be allowed to edit files anywhere on the system.

It's safe to turn it off when you have a reasonably good internet security program such as Kaspersky, Norton, BitDefender, Avast, etc...
The benefits are compatibility with older software such as old games and also less annoyance from repetitive confirmation messages.

Yes, as dsector said. You can install the game with a keygen serial and use the XWIS account for multiplayer.
