Is there a resolution patch for this version of the game?

I tried downloading the xwis multiplayer version of the game but it doesn't run properly (no menu).

Oh, ok then.

I'll just play on my Windows 98 system, don't blame me if I lag.

Don't expect anyone to help you with that kind of attitude.

If you have the CD-ROM version of the game, use that. If not and you're only using the XWIS version (if not already) try selecting a resolution in Options. Surely one of the dropdown selection resolutions work for you? Although my resolution is 1920 x 1080 x 16:9 my game doesn't fit the full screen since my new graphics card installation. (AMD Radeon R9 280 3GB)

What attitude?

As I stated, the xwis version has NO menu, which is why I asked about a patch for the ultimate collection version. There is a link to the old resolution patch on here but it wont modify the UC version because it says the file has been modified.

^ That attitude.

You started this thread literally 2 minutes before posting the above.

Be sure that you have the latest drivers for your video card. Regardless of how old the games may be, it's always good to keep your drivers up-to-date. Also see if you can see the menus by selecting "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution" in the "Properties" settings on the game shortcut. Go to "Compatibility".

Remember to tick "Run this program as an administrator", it's needed if you have UAC enabled.

I'm probably going to ignore this now since I'm obviously going to get stupid answers.

Wow... you really are rude, aren't you? I'm sorry but with that kind of attitude (and yes, that is attitude) no one should bother helping you. These answers are basic and common sense. We are trying to give you some basic options to try, not for our help be thrown back in our faces.

Does the Ultimate version run without issues on Windows 8?

The ultimate version does run on Windows 8 but you have to edit ra2.ini to include the following line in the video section
Videobackbuffer=0

The only problem is the resolution for online play which is stuck at 640x480 and the old resolution patch won't alter game.exe because it says it's the wrong version.

Grow up. People are trying to help you.

Their so called answers were nothing to do with my original inquiry which was for increasing the resolution in the ultimate collection version for online play.

You can ask some one to patch the original exe for you, I wonder if some nice with Windows 7 would do that for you, hmm.

What do you mean by the original exe? I tried using the exe from the cd version after patching it and when run it asked for the cd.

It can be patched with the no-cd patch after that as well...

I thought this site didn't support the no cd patch.

Well, it is integrated into the XWIS download.

ST used to forbid discussion on no-cd patches, etc before the XWIS version was developed and released.
