Hey guys, I am new to this forum but not new to RA2.  I used to play quite a bit but that was years ago.  I randomly remembered how much I loved this game and decided to purchase the online download of all 17 C&C games.

I am having 2 problems that I am hoping someone here can help me with:

1) When navigating through the game Menus after initial startup, the screen freezes every time I click on anything.  I figured out that if I hit the Windows button to minimize the game and then reopen it (maximize) again, the screen will load.  I have to do this for EVERY screen; it is really annoying.  Have you all heard of this problem before?  Any ideas what could be causing it?

2) Noone is ever playing Quick Matches in RA2!!  I keep searching for matches over and over but none are found.  Is there a particular day or time of day that people are more active on the Quick Matches?

I really appreciate any help you can give!!  Thanks in advance!

1. Are you running w7 or w8? you can try different compatability modes by going to options

2. probably like 12pm-6pm CST --- better on weekends

First of all, welcome! I hope you stick around.

1. What they said

2. You can try starting off with some tournament games then head to QM. Also, try to arrange games on here. Keep at it!

From the game.exe right click and change compatibility to windows 98

Tournament game is a way to play single player ladder games but to settings and maps off your choice, rather then the random scenarios in Quick Match. When creating a game from the Lobby just click the tournament option.

Thx for the info on Tournament games, I see them now.

I tried running the game in Windows 98, 95, and many others, but I am still having the same issue.  Could it be because I am running the game through EA's Origin program?  I purchased the 17 game C&C pack on Amazon and all the games are run through the Origin player.  I tried changing compatibility on both the Origin player and on my RA2 executable, but no luck.  Is anyone familiar with the Origin player?

I don't know much about all of this but my advice is to try installing the downloadable version from here.. "http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/177134-downloads/"

Get ra2 from that link and then set up your account here... "http://xwis.net/game-account/"

Enter your Serial number in the game-account, then create a nick and you should be good to go.

I'm not sure how up to date the download is but there's also a lot of new maps that come with it and Auto-SS

Ra2 on win7 runs best in compatibility mode for xp sp3.

As Edd suggested, its recommended you use the xwis version of the game.
