So... Used to play RA2/YR back in the old days, loved it. Also I swear far less people had cottoned on/ bothered with the boring technique of building 5 million soviet tanks and rushing / building 5 million air troops...

Anyway...

I have my old ra2 serial which i put in when creating my account and installed ra2 and yr with xwis patches. Happy with ra2 online.

Purchased a YR key, seems pointless at the moment? I havent had to add it?

Anyway, logged on and there was 1 player. Am I missing something or do very few people play YR now?

Also, are there any alternative services (probably get slayed for saying that here) but ultimately just want to play - I heard of gameranger?

Cheers!

fewer players play yr yes. Ra2 is active at the moment. I think some people get on YR on the weekends.

YR has experienced a dramatic decrease in activity over the last few years. RA2 on the other hand whilst still declining, still has a fair few active players.

YR, for me at least, is only worth going on if i have arranged to with friends, or at weekends when its more active. Otherwise it is near impossible to find a decent game unless you like TOE.

Also, you didn't need a YR serial if you had a RA2 one.

Welcome back!

I've logged onto YR at different times of the day and although there are significantly less players in comparison to RA2, I've never seen only 1 player online, it's always around 30, 40. I'm guessing you didnt connect properly and that that one player you saw in the lobby was you. Check out our Getting Started guide in the Support section for more info.

Thanks all for your help so far...

From a quick google I assume QQ is QQ battle, and it looks like a tunnel service right?

Shame about the serial - oops!

Also, I just tried again now and only a few players online. I then re-checked through this website and it only showed 1 other along with my name at:

http://xwis.net/yr/online

Im not bickering or having a go, I genuinely wonder if I am missing something as thats no where near 30/40!

I am currently in NZ and chose NZ as my location in the game, I assume that has no effect?

Thanks!

Also, I know this should perhaps be another topic but are there any other configurations of RA2 played widely online, say one with less strength in soviet tanks haha.

On the weekends yrs has a good amount of players normally, I went on at around 2 p.m. on Sunday and there was around 40 or so players online and I was able to get qms so I'd say that's pretty good still.

ive seen less then 6 before. During the day (GMT/BST) there are very few online. Only in evenings or weekends are people on, which im guessing if you are in NZ will be early morning your time.

QQ is only for ra2. Gameranger has YR players, similar in activity to xwis yr. to get on QQ-ra2 you'd have to have someone assist you

The last time I played there was sometime last year and the activity was CRAZY considering it was 2012. There would've been close to 1000 people playing RA2 and it wasn't even a weekend!. BUT... 90+% of them only played on Heck w/ crates, use France, 10 starting units and no SW. The speed varied from game to game. You'll need an ID as was mentioned above which unfortunately I have no idea how to acquire besides from a Chinese person living in China (I only have 1 so I'm not giving it :D). This guy Michel used to know a lot about QQ but he seems to have vanished. I'm pretty sure it's LAN based coz you had to connect via the Network option in the RA2 menu. Oh, and anything goes including cheats (every cheat available such as build anywhere) and lames. You can get ggs as well but you have to be patient. There was a specific section where you had to use socket 123 in the network settings, but there weren't anywhere near as many players there, less than xwis at the time. I mainly played there for 6+ player ffa, that was pretty awesome.

Oh and the level of competition wasn't that high... I'm a pro there :D.
