**As with the other 5 FFG tournaments that have been held, this one will also be on RA2**

 

Please discuss the following:

 

1. Is there enough players that would participate?

 

2. When should the tournament be held?

 

3. Should there be any changes to the rules or how the tournament is held?

  A. Double elimination or single? Other?

  B. Same rules/settings?

  C. Limited map pool?

  D. Should the tournament be held over > 1 day?

hmm well (to my surprise) i felt that dsect0r's tournament was a great success because it was held over a period of a few weeks. Also, I felt that his authoritarian approach held players more accountable. This likely worked because his organisation was impeccable and he is a respected player/member of the community.

 

I think you are viewed similarly, Mason; I would suggest following that same model:

 

- tournament 'term', perhaps a few well chosen weeks? (as best as possible free of exam pressures/ curricular events limiting recreation time)

- assigned map choices (from a predetermined pool)

- double elimination

- random prize and winner's prize (if possible)

- video streaming/ replays available

I thought dsector's tournament went really well, something similar to that would be nice. 
Map pool: should be all of the more recently added maps 
Also, I'm interested in playing, date shouldn't matter much.

I liked # of wins personally, I think it makes more sense because it doesn't penalize you as much for having a close series against someone else. I also like the idea of random faction as mentioned above, but I'm thinking maybe just do a random playable faction instead. I mean having random faction and getting lybia against allies is kind of weak imo, so maybe assign the two players to play as one of (iraq, america, korea)?

i think u should do FFg tourney like all the others...  The dsector tournament is something that can be done like every month cuz its more flexible with the time. there is just something more exicting about a single tournament day imo. So basically...u should do both. lol. If u host the ffg tournament, I will make an appearance.

This tournament will likely not be held for more than a month  or two

Great idea per se but I'd encourage you to be even more strict than dsector at times. (Especially when players simply don't manage to play their games in two weeks - it annoys literally everyone and it's cumbersome.)

Well, on gameranger several tournaments had each "bracket section" due by a specific date, say the first set of matches you get 1 week to do, 2nd set, 1 week, semifinals 1 week, finals 1 week, etc.

If that is the format, then don't call it ffg tournament 6.  :/. imo it would be cool to use this setup ur talkin about as its own ranking system and do it monthly blah blah. Alternative to hof qm stuff, know what im tryin to say? cuz im not saying it well lol

Create a separate ranking system. For example, Winner of first tourney is the real rank 1. Next tourney he sits out. Winner of 2nd tounry plays winner of 1st tourney. That guys is rank 1. The more tournies, then u make a top 16 ranking system by giving people certain amount of points for how they did in the tournaments.  It would be far more interesting then the qm ladder imo. Certain matches will be way more meaningful at certain times. More intensity = more fun.Record said matches, etc. Stuff like that.

The more tournies, then u make a top 16 ranking system by giving people certain amount of points for how they did in the tournaments.  It would be far more interesting then the qm ladder imo. Essentially a losers bracket but the winner of the second tournament plays the winner or the first. I was trying to organize a tournament back then of a pyramid. The person at the top is rank one and the people at the bottom got to challenge people at the top (separated into different brackets based on position) after they obtained a certain amount of points from their bracket.
