So me and some friends have original cd copies of RA2 and we wanted to use xwis for the multiplayer and everything was working fine up until we tried a custom game out, we get past the loading screen and instantly the game freezes for all of us when the match begins. Now I don't know if I'm being impatient but maybe it takes some time to load maybe? or is it something else entirely maybe? If anyone has any clues please do tell.

Also some info:

-RA2 version: 1.006

-No mods

-Original cd versions

-Firewall exceptions have been made.

-Singleplayer doesn't do this, it's only in multiplayer.

-We are not using Yuri's revenge.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that we did try compatibility with xp and 98 and we also have it running as admin.

Any help would be much appreciated.

.

Hi, to play on XWIS you must download and install :

1. http://xwis.net/downloads/Red-Alert-2-Multiplayer.exe

2. http://xwis.net/downloads/WOLAPI-0.0.0.exe

3. http://xwis.net/temp/XWIS-Red-Alert-2-Update.exe

Thats not really true. People can still play on XWIS with cd versions if they wish its just easier with the download. And if you use the latest download the update isn't needed I don't think..

I deleted everything completely.

I opened my disk drive, put in "The first decade" and clicked install.

It runs perfect for Yuri and RA2.

I don't have the AutoSS upload, but I don't play ranked games.

Your disk should and will work properly.

I still log on and play the custom maps, THC, Skill build, and maps like that, and it does take a few to load, patience might be the only thing you need to install.. :)

I hope this helps a little. At least you know your disk works fine.

Ah, well maybe I could try a different version other than the original cd ones, I'm gonna  try the multiplayer only version of RA2 then, thanks moret for the link to it,  I'll let you know if it  works properly.

Yes! So it works flawlessly with the downloaded multiplayer version. I guess it doesn't work with the cd version of the game, strange. Anyway thank to all who helped, you have 3 friends very happy lol.
