I came across a picture of Starcraft vs Red Alert 2 (Very old photo), It was very amazing and made me wonder, what happens if there is a crossover between these 2 games?? These are 2 very old games and the new version of them has already been created (Starcraft 2 and Red Alert 3). However, Starcraft Broodwar and Red Alert Yuri’s Revenge have always been my favourite games. I’m sure many of you have played both these games before

So I am going to construct a scenario as if there is a (IN GAME!!!) crossover between these 2 games and so we can have some discussion about it. IN GAMES MECHANICS ONLY!

Zerg vs Soviet
Protoss vs Allies
Terran vs Yuri

Due to significant differences between these 2 games, we would equalize it with certain assumptions:

  • 1 Sc hp/dmg = 3.5 RA hp/dmg
  • Allies start off with 2800 gold, Soviet 2600 and Yuri 2350 (for an equal start with Sc)
  • RA Naval forces are now Air forces > Means flying ships xD (Naval Shipyard is built on land) =>ships air dmg is cut to half as i realise its dmgs to air are too high
  • Sc buildings cannot be Engineered and Attack Dogs do nothing against Sc units.
  • Dolphin, Chaos drone, Giant Squid and Robot tank as RA’s detection units
  • RA alliances (eg. Soviet) have access to all special units of its division countries (eg. Soviet has Desolators)
  • Only zerglings and marines are considered infantry unit for RA. And Miners of course, (eg. probes) (don’t know what this changes though)
  • Assume Sc Fog of War
  • Armor wise, Sc:RA => Small=Light, Medium=Medium, Large=Heavy
  • No supply Cap for RA

These are some websites you can visit for theorycrafting:
http://cnc.wikia.com/wiki/Portal:Red_Alert_2
http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/StarCraft_Wiki

It would be very interesting if you guys can pull out some in-game strategies and scenarios like muta harassment on Warminers or sniper/desolator harassments on SCVs. Or some clash of units in the late game like mass GuardianGIs in Battle Fortresses vs mass Battle Cruisers…. :D

Let the discussion and theorycrafting begin!!

Perhaps I'll start by giving some scenarios smile.gif

Zerg vs Soviet
Early game can be more zerg favoured as zerglings will do pretty well against infantries and are much faster, hence can run around harassing, but RA has pretty good defence structures.
Mid game can be a hydra vs rhino fest but Soviet will have the upperhand due to desolators, zerg may resolve to mass mutas but muta stacking will be pretty bad against flak tracks as they do splash damage, perhaps magic box will work but submarines can be a pretty good counter as well.
Late game Ultra vs Apocalypse will be pretty cool. DarkSwarm will force Soviet to play a lot of running while plague will be devastating for the soviet army. Zerg cant utilize zerglings though due to desolators.

Protoss vs Allies
Early game GIs should do quite well against zealots but GIs are too slow to attack, by the time they reach protoss's base, dragoons should be out and will destroy GI force with micro. Hence both should be playing quite defensive.
Mid game tank destroyer should do pretty well against dragoons but zealots will rape them, so it could be some prism+destroyer+grizzly+mirage vs zealot+dragoon+storm. Storm should do very well as allies units are pretty soft.
Late game may consist of GGIBattleFortress vs Carriers. Which could be damn cool, though i think GGIBF will stand out as it will clear interceptors extremely fast.

Terran vs Yuri
Early game mnm can be huge, until Yuri gets viruses.
Mid game Seigetank vulture should be very strong but Yuri can magnetron seige tanks and mastermind them. Seigetanks cant shoot when being lifted by magnetron.
