"Reso abuse" now. This isn't Westwood nub.

The point still remains. Players being able to have an advantage over others.
It would be the same as switching on a map hack or god mode.

Perhaps, but larger resolutions also have their disadvantages. ;)

the reso difference is nothing like "maphack" or "god mode" those are definatly programs to give people the edge.

higher / lower resolutions both have their +ve and -ve pts.....

the only -ve point to cheats are, if / when caught - you will be banned.

Easily overcome with a more accurate gaming mouse, which I do use. ;)

Please go back to school, the gaming area is not for you.

By your logic, it should be disallowed to use a mouse with a better accuracy since it gives you an advantage over your opponents.

My logic only includes higher resolution monitors which causes the units to look smaller.
At lower resolutions the need for highly accurate mouse drops.

Reso should be restricted. Ra2 has been made on those resolutions. I still use a very small one because my screen cant handle large ones, its like 1000*600 the lenght is ok but the wide is a disaster :s

Still own most ppl with there full map reso benefits tough but ye it have become more difficult for players like me.
Perhaps i should buy a new screen :-)

If you are a good players, then switching between 800x600 >> 1680x1050 can make a massive difference, being able to see splits and enemy units easier.
It makes defending and pressuring your opponent much easier. As well as planning out your base building routes.

Isn't there a billion dollar business for creating the illusion of being able to improve your game play by buying things?

better mouse, better sound, magazines for 'cheats' (old school), bigger screens....

Of course a higher resolution is better for seeing splits, but we all agree that the smaller reso would make it easier to react with control, so there are upsides and downsides.  Each player is able to determine what resolution they want to play.  If one was 'the best' wouldn't all top players use it?

1920-1080

1600-1024

1152-864

1600-900

1600-1024

Those are the top 5 and i have a feeling that the one that repeats just may be the same person

I think 1024x768 is quite standard of an average monitor be it a laptop or a desktop.

Recently the norm has become 1200-1600x900-1000 range.

1024x768 is the highest default resolution in RA2. I don't know how you can expect people to use that resolution in 2013.

If you play 800x600 with radar you can even see splits better than ever (ask good old Frank PiNeRs) :)

Thought max default was 12xx.
