hey, i was wondering how i can actually play a game of Ra2 online... I create a custom game and when both players have clicked to begin the game - my screen pops up ra2 has encountered an internal error and is unable to continue normally - nothing happens and the screen freezes and i have to ctrl alt delete to exit ra2

its sounds as tho you may either need to allow mph.exe a connection through your firewall and/or run ra2.exe as administrator.

Try running ra2 on one processor.

Load ra2.
Ctrl alt delete (but do not end ra2)
Task manager go to processes
Right click game.md or ra2.something (I can't remember what it actually is atm)
Click 'set affinity'
Leave only 1 box ticked
Accept and okay
Return to ra2

game.exe (if you haven't installed the auto map pack stuff). I think it changes afterwards tho.

Hmm don't worry I'm sure someone else will have other ideas.

Try with the download and see if it works. Start the game from Red Alert 2.exe Ra2.exe.

yeh, i have tried using both cd and the download , doesnt seem to change it.. could it be to do with allowing certain ports through firewall?

do both 'game' and 'ra2.exe' have to be in compatibility mode for windows XP (server pack 3) + run as administrator or should both be set for windows 98/windows me??
i have windows 7. also somehow one qm had worked randomly - then i went to play a custom game straight after - didnt work ..!!
i was altering compatability mode for the game and ra2.exe, when the one qm worked ... but since it doesnt work! wtf??!

no still doing the same thing :(

I tried using another laptop computer (windows 7)
I downloaded this on that computer - (Red Alert 2 Dowload 0.0.0 ) http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/files/file/8-red-alert-2-download/
This computer also recieves the same internal error that my computer does when trying to begin a game (click accept)...
I hosted a game online and then joined with the other laptop and i was able to connect and play a game, although it was rather laggy.

Ok, so i've temporarily disable AVG and turned firewall off and now the 'internal error' does not come up when trying to begin a game - however, now it just does not connect with other players... on a few random occasions a games works and it will connects, (this only happened a couple of times).
- also this happened one game (the attached) - the game loaded and the screen then froze instantly
If thats any help ..

Have you installed all of the patches.

See here for all the download you need. P.S. get the Ra2 Optimiser v1.3. That may fix it.

Downloaded the optimiser, still not working :(
I am getting the occasional connection and game that works @ qm and custom matches. But 9 times out of 10 i dont connect to the player. Now it is just not connecting and no longer internal erroring

Never heard of it. Could you try setting DMZ in your router to your own computer?
