Hey,

Im trying to get Red Alert 2 working on multiplayer. I am using Isos off the internet as I have already bought the game twice and have registered it with this user name, but have lost the discs. I can get the game running fine but when I go into the multiplayer channel theres nobody there and there is only one channel, USA BUNKER. Now I know its been a while since ive been on, but its only been about a year. Is it just that there isn't any one on or am I doing something wrong.

I tried to install the Red_Alert-2-0.0.2 patch on both the CD isos I downloaded as well as the Red_Alert-2-0.0.0 folder containing the multiplayer only version of the game and when started the screen just goes black with a large cursor, so help with that would also be appreciated.

Am I on the wrong server? It says XWIS in the server choices so I assume im on the right one...

Tl;DR DO PEOPLE STILL PLAY RA2 ONLINE?

System Specs:

AMD PHENOM II X4 965 processor 3.40 Ghz
8GBIT of RAM
Windows 7 64 bit

the black screen at the intial loading of the new patch is an update process.. wait a minute or 2 and it will load the game as normal.

Thanks for the help, that got me through the initial process and into the game.

Problem is that when I go to play online theres nobody there. Am I in the wrong server?

Also, when I boost the resoloution a screen border appears and the image gradually shrinks. Anyway to fix?

it likely means your username/password combination is incorrect. you may have to reset your passwords using your control panel

http://xwis.net/control_panel/

there should be an error message displayed, can you post it plz?

The password and username are the same that I used to log onto XWIS and post in this forum. I dont get any error messages. I am able to log onto multiplayer and enter the custom games lobby but there is only one bunker available and there is nobody there. Checked at different times and same result. There is nothing to do so I quit out. But from here I can see people play, so theres gotta be something I can do to get a game.

If you have not logged onto your account in 1 year it is quite possible you are required to reset the game serial password via your control panel. Have you attempted to log on there and register your serial? Upon registering a valid serial you will be given a password which applies to every nick on that serial. This is not optional.

After trying that, if there is no result can you post a screen shot of the image you see when you log onto multiplayer and see the 1 lobby and no error message?

Thanks for the help. Good news is I found my CDS and serial and plugged it into the control panel and there was my account from a year ago. So I have done a fresh install with my discs and my original serial code, have updated to 1006 patch and the XWIS patch. I run from Red Alert 2. exe and I get the loading screen with a "failed to initialise: please reinstall" error. Any help?

Yea, in order to use the XWIS patch you need to use the RA2 Mp installer as per these instructions.

Okay, I think you mean the game multiplayer component which I have the full game on CD. Apparently the patch doesn't work on CD installs:

http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/171246-information-and-guide-to-using-xwis-ra2-update/

Anyway, got it working and could log in with another user name, Genrust. Can I change the nickname or add names to the account using control? Tried adding using same serial but nothing happened. Can delete nickname but don't want to delete account.

Update: Can add nickname, but want to add Ruster, which is the initial account but says that name is taken. Anything I can do?

2nd Update: Assuming its taken because of me...

Unless you can add the serial that links to your Ruster account then no.

Okay I understand. I got the game originally when I was 15, im 26 now. The original serial has been lost to the sands of time. Im almost 100% sure EA dont have a hold of the serials any more so I can't back log it from them. Can XWIS do anything? Its obviously my tag as its the user name that I am posting with. Any senior admin out there?
