Hi Guys,
Since 15 min. I'm unable to start Red Alert 2.
My computer gives me the following error:

Posted Image

It's dutch, so I've translated it: "Can't find the ordinal 1111 within DLL-file WSOCK32.dll"
While two hours ago I was able to play Red Alert 2. I've not changed any setting in my computer during that time.
Do you guys know how to solve this?

Thanks in advance,
Bornslippy

If you play online, put the file out of the RA2-folder. If LAN-games, put it in.

But as I said, I didn't change/remove anything. And the error says that a file is not findeable so (it's not in I think) according to your theory it should work now and it doesn't.

Check the folder to make sure. To find out where your RA2 files are located:
  • right-click the ra2 icon
  • Properties
  • Shortcut tab
  • Target
Use 'Computer' or 'Windows Explorer' to view the folder.

I've checked it, it's not in.
Thank you guys for your help so far, but it's still not solved.

Does anyone recognize this problem?

Are you trying to play LAN? Or to play online?

If online, reinstall and do a search for WSOCK32.dll and delete them.

Recommended install for RA2 and YR is http://xwis.net/forums/index.php/topic/171448-read-me-first/page__p__1470360#entry1470360

I had the same problem. It happened randomly out of no where for me as well. I tried everything... Getting the file from a good install, reinstalling the game.... re-registering the file via cmd prompt or something along those lines....
Couldn't get it to work at all!
Format eventually fixed it. Was my last resort.
