I'm surprised that with all the SSs being constantly uploaded that the XWIS server hasn't ran out of hard-disk space yet!

what make u thinks that? how much on average is ammount of screenshots per hour? we say a 100, time 24 and time 30 this is a 70k pieces, say its big ss each consume half mb, its 35 gb a month... this isnot so much.

increase to 200 ss/hour u get 70 gb month,
make it 400 its 140 gb,

now it perhaps gettin a bit mutch for a small server, but still ist nothing

1000 ss/hour for each day whole month with sizeof 0.5 mb each ss u have 360 gb this sound much maybe to u, dunno how big space xwis server has...

for grabbing this with a 100 mbits off to backup what u need 10 hour?

ps, it can always be delete after 2 month

any1 remember when this starting? end september/begin oktober 2011? this is a good 4 months. of course less ppl know about it on very beginning. i didnt either.

but look here one of first ss still availible: http://xwis.net/ra2/screenshots/12/

each ss get his own uri, now its about 200k, so in this 4 month accumulate just a < 100 gb of ss. my estimation good.

hope many using this grea patch with funny new maps and perks it makes game so fresh!

I remember that! That was Olaf, making fun of a random . Good estimation Herb, you seem to be very computer savvy, RA2 could use a guy like you. I just hope you don't turn to the dark-side like Alex and start making hard-if-not-impossible-to-catch-RA2-hax and also sky-rocket Frank to the top of the ladder .

i just answer ur question, firework. and omg, i hear this often about this guy. some saying im him but that is silly. dunno how one can cheat or make cheat on ra2, doesnt go into my head. i promising if i meet that guy i will beating him up good! might first have to do some gym though... i fear it might be one big guy.

Can anyone think of any other improvements to this patch?

• allow the user to turn XGS and beeper ON/OFF?
• include it in the multiplayer-only RA2 (red alert 2.0.0.0)?
• add it to the Downloads section?

Add it to the downloads sections for sure. There's been a few people that I've told about this auto ss but I have to tell them to search around this topic for the DL link.... maybe if it was in the first post!?

The performance hit of XGS is too big, why not just use the standalone XGS?
Doesn't the auto-focus code work properly? No beeper needed.
Yes, it will be added to MP only some time.

i think xgs should be added to the ra2.0.0.0 (or whatever its called - auto ss uploader) .exe file.

so xgs runs alongside the ss uploader, without any1 needing to "forget" to run it, then its always available for cheat reports if/when its needed. (just an idea imo)

Just out of curiosity, could you make this so that you HAD to have it to play qm/cm kinda like when u dont have the reso patch and click qm it says screen must change reso, could there be something that says to use this feature u must download from the following patch from?...

That's only valid if the other player have them disabled too, if not, you gonna get them in games.

I have Artic Circle disabled and got it two times in a row last day, I was like wtf lols

well it works for the "nonstandard" maps.

i say just make all the extra maps "nonstandard" solves the problem for a lot of people.

Still like 40 new maps that are 'standard'. ****s me off losing to **** players just because I never played the map before or don't recognise it at start.

Can't even use XGS to check what map it is as they all come up as 213129adsdaskdjasd1234190.map..

Can you fix that XGS issue please Olaf?

a couple of cool features might be:

option to timestamp lobby msgs

alt+Q = quit ra2 (useful for quickly restarting)

learn maps is easiest option i found
