Email validation itself isn't a bad idea. It's just not going to solve anything.

I believe you've misinterpreted my post. I wasn't suggesting email validation as an end solution, it was primarily geared towards a furtherance of IP banning. Visibly, there are no static methods of banning a user without serial validation, at least you would have this at your disposal in addition. As stated, in my honest opinion, this can only help the current situation if banning by serial is not an option.

Why not use a combination of all the methods? The ban dodgers would have to get a new ip, email...etc. While you have a one click ban on them.

One click is not going to generate any proof...

How about...

You tell us whatyou have considered as viable solutions to rectify the current problem, and we go from there. At least we will have a base to work on :)

New nicks can now only be registered via CP.

New nicks can now only be registered via CP.

Which means people would still just need to make a new account.

I don't get it.

How come people have to make nicks via the CP, not via the new account section of TS (after all, it used to work) ?

I've also wondered why the New Account option in Tiberian Sun does not work.

XWIS never implemented that.

Could it be implemented? I must admit, when I first started, it was a bit disorienting for that button to not work.

The short answer is yes.

And I've seen it done on 3rd party servers... but not at XWIS
Will XWIS implement it ? That's for Olaf to answer.

Technically yes, but probably it won't be as XWIS uses CP.

@Olaf

This may not be the right place for this post.

Olaf, what is the new changes that has been done to TS in regards to making a new nick. I only need to know so i can hlep others when questions arise. From what i understand, you need to register at striketeam and CP. How many logins can be created with freeware? with a serial? Thanks!

silver, the problem is that a member that thrives on inciting negativity, who wont be named, tries to negate any progress
toward obtaining someone to oversee ts. there are several members who have been willing and would do the job well such as WT(whose posts attempting to sort through bs are appreciated btw), aur, diego, jesus christ... even myself if nobody else would fill the position

We did. In fact we made a better server than that which is currently running, with loads of extra features that the xwis server has never, and likely will ever have. Unfortunately ST went out of their way to distance themselves from us and ban all staff of this new server from these forums. Low player uptake has meant we have currently closed the server.

That is terrible... :/ I don't see their point of trying to have so much power of a dying game. Maybe the asses want it dead so they can lure oldschool players to buy the newer games. It could be because Ea is not like westwood as well.

I wouldn't give up though. Honestly Id keep changing the name and keep reopening it.

oh wow 18 total votes, this is more progress than I have ever seen here and amassed together.

I suggest all ts players continue spreading the word when they are online @ xwis! or one day you may find yourself unable to log on wondering WTF :confused1:

Why ?

Why do people need 9 nicknames on Tiberian Sun, yet they are only allowed 1 account name on Strike-Team forums ?

Imagine if EVERYONE changed their names 9 times a year on Strike-Team forums.

Thanks. Is it possible to have serial validation turned on and people whom download freeware make an account on ST for a free serial which wont let them gain points in clanners and turnys?

Basically freeware redirects them to strike-team instead of not logging on at all.

Also i think you should have a write-up "how to use CP" below the loggin page http://xwis.net/control_panel/

Altho CP is easy to use. I see alot of people not knowing how to register or use it. it was just a example. Can even put a how to use link somewhere there.

If we can have serial validation turned on with the help of Freeware, id consider it =)
