Yeah.

If your firewall also allows you to oversee local proccesses like the Defense option of Comodo, allow any request from the related programs to carry out operations too.

i have done this allready, but will this reset if i turn off my cpu??? thing is, iv had a bit to drink so i cant remeber how i got to change/check this out. someone did give me a step by step guide in how to do this. i just cant find it... (had a real tough day inc loadsa personal issues, hence the booze so i appologise peeps)
i jus wannaplay cnc ra2yr and get absolutly wooooooped before i gotta sleep to take littlun to skool in the morn :(

The step by step part depends on what Firewall you are using.

I think you got that wrong mate. Mozilla Firefox is your browser (and mine btw), not your firewall ;)

If you want info on how to configure your firewall, then you need to know what firewall you are using for a start, then research on that. Otherwise since your problem is solved, you can leave it at that. :)

That is obvious. The system restore just reversed important system files to their previous values. Thats what it is there for lol. Just repeat the steps given by staff.

And btw i dont like the sound of your system needing a restore. you got antivirus software up and running? Do you defrag often?

hi there, i did do all the previous steps just after posted my prob (u were right it was obvious lol)
i just reinstalled yr etc n all worked fine!!
ill be honest, my laptops on its last legs (im gettin a new one in the nu year btw) so a system restore is essential to keep it alive. iv got antivirus running so thats all covered. my laptop is just really old n crappy and isnt too far away from being cremated forever hehe!!

Good to hear.

Do you defrag often? If you dont know what it is just say so, it can extend your laptops life.

yeah, a defrag does help and speeds up things a little!! just annoying to have to do theese things yknow!!!
whilst im here, can i ask what to do about people who use bad language about or to me!!? one guy yesterday kept calling me an a## h#le and other bad language and booting me off his game. n another person kept saying 'hey boot this guy hes abusive and flames all the time!!' which i dont!
im nothappy about this and other things that go on whilst online! it shouldnt be allowed imo and make me not wanna play! and that aint good!!

regards

sup djrogue,

You had better get used to it as thats the norm in the games, until your reputation is well established :p . And even then...

Complaints coming in for bad language in the games are not accepted by XWIS staff for several reasons, so the only place you will find protection of that kind is here in the forums.

What you can do, is to technically ignore players so you dont recieve their messages, or boot them/ban them from your games. Thats about it.

Regards.

Think I've got a similar problem as Rogue and would love some help as well.

Every time I go into the game and click internet, I just get a 'looking for servers' message, then it says unable to connect to Westwood. I never have a chance to put any log in details in. I'v got patch 1.006 installed onto the game.

I downloaded the client posted earlier and got this response

nick:
server: servserv.westwood.com:4005 (159.153.208.17)
unable to connect: ETIMEDOUT

then reset it and got the same.

When going through the host files I get a really weird message in notepad, its like a demo message or something....

# Copyright © 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost

------

I've probably have missed something stupidly obvious but any help would be appreciated, I'm **** with stuff like this. My version of the game is fully licensed.

Cheers

The IP address is wrong, so somewhere in a hosts file it should be listed. I don't see it in the file you posted though.

Sorry, what do you mean? Which IP?

To get that weird notepad message I went Start>Run and entered C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

Then clicked open with notepad. Any idea what I need to be doing differently?

Cheers

159.153.208.17
Actually, it's right.
Could you run ping 159.153.208.17 and tracert 159.153.208.17 and post the output?

Happily if I knew what you just asked me :D

As a guess I changed the figures on the client to read like this,

Posted Image

then pressed reset and test, tried it a few times, still getting this message

Apologies for not knowing my arm from my **** when it comes to stuff like this.
