This is the thread to decide what maps you want to see in QM for allied/soviet warfare.

The goal of this is to create a Balanced, fun, fair map pool. We don't want no little big lake (unfair) map in qm, and at the same time we dont want to have lost lake and artic circle into qm (2 of the same exact thing).


Heres my list with ratings

Let There Be Fight 6/10 (I guess this used to be in qm, was kicked out, why?)
Little Piece of dune 6/10 (Personal favorite, but very important airport)

Breakaway 6.5/10 Only reason it gots 6.5 was because its better fitted 3 players

Four Corners 6.5/10 (I was gonna put this on the bubble due to middle, but its such a sick map..)

What do you think?

To the pro-map people, I think they will love the list of maps added to qm. Thats about 40 maps added to qm. We can work on the sva avs mirror matchups after we can agree on a list.

The the anti-map people, the reason i chose these maps are due to balance, and newness in play. This game is near 7 years old, and some of us are just plain bored with the same qm maps. We want change! we want new maps to combat on, to play the best on, to win on, to lose on.

The main 'hate' i get with adding new maps to qm, is the false idea that these maps are gonna = 10 minute games in 'quick' match. That is a false statement!! Yes, a map like lost lake, or, malibu cliffs might take longer then your average match, but look at the maps there: hail mary, little piece of dune, happy trails, all can be less then 3 minutes.

EDIT: Another thing I must add is the maps with 3 players or a map like little piece of dune were tech controls much, the reason I like those is for this:

On Little piece of dune, it can be delt with, you can all out rush the other side, or challenge him in the water. On the three player maps you each get your own techs, then you fight over the remaining ones.

AMAZING. All those maps are great. (HAHA I got advantage cas I know em all :D)
IMO LBL & DC Should be in. They are fun. And downtown cityville is v fun, it was in qm for a long time.EVB HLL NO. Otters revenge and oceanside are fun cas u get a huge navy war. Convoy is good as well as powder keg. Trailer isnt rly all that big and neither is patomac, I'd like to see those.

In a weird way, I wish lbl was in qm, however putting those into qm will **** much much people off. I think those are off limits.

And downtown cityville is v fun,

Problem here is, its one of the most dependant middle maps in game. Person who gets middle gets 4 oils + gems. To overpowered there IMO.

I wish i could put that in there, but id like more opinions on it, i just dont think the community would want that one in it.

Id agree, but id like more opinions on it, as i dont think many people would want it, and I could see why they wouldnt.

Trailer isnt rly all that big and neither is patomac, I'd like to see those.

appreciate ur opinion on it.

However let me tell you all this one thing on trailer:

1 thing Ive noticed when it was in qm, often was one guy gets a nice spot close to middle, other guy gets far right spot.
are yall ok with that? alot of times the far right guy moved to middle, while the middle guy had to build 2 barracks to middle so it was kinda even, so it was still fair.

Well thing is, im more of an oldschool style allies. I don't like big maps, I like to play smaller maps with more tact and skill, rather than camping with bfs and mirage.etc. EVB is probly the worst map ever made.

That's another thing. We don't want qm to become camp match. In a way, I can definitely see what u mean by EvB being a super camp fest.

the thing with trailer is that you can get around quickly on the map. even though the map may seem big the epicenter is the middle of the map in which most fighitng will take place. so in reality i think everyone with half a brain is going to go for mid which will nullify the problem with ebing too far back.

your map list is good but you have to look at BALANCE.

i.e.

HECK is my favorite map and i would love to see it in qm, but spot 8 aka CAVE to all those ra2 players.

is WAY overpowered.

especially the 7 vs 5 matchup 7 justp lain sucks.

in 2v2 balance is easier to maintain but in 1v1 i just dont see it happening, would be kool to see it in there tho :)



SINKHOLE cannot be a soviet vs allied map.

allies have a BIG disadvantage here, TRust me i've clanned on this map MANY times.

not only the radiation, but if a soviet player moves to the middle the allies CAN NOT WIN.


army of the potomac

has MANY resources and Should be added to fight yuri >:|

OCEANSIDE

should defientely be added,
one of my personal favorites,
and!
its balanced, would put for some good navy battles.

Agree 100%. Would have to be a SvS map only, allies are no fun to use there (unless rockie rush)

idk i was just saying, if you look at it form a balnce point of veiw, its 3 out of the 8 positions so not much but still >.<


and oceanside would be good AVS if sw were on.

sw off allies would have the advantage here not a BIG one but a slight one.

mirror matches would be really fun and it wouldnt take to long to win here,
definetely not as long as some QM maps (like offense defense YUCK)

i can help you with that if you want, i know alot of the maps that are balanced/unbalanced avs ava and all that.

and yeah i know , heck is so good thats why i didnt wanna say anything about the balance issues lol so it would get in =DD

i can help you with that if you want, i know alot of the maps that are balanced/unbalanced avs ava and all that.


I will be making a rough draft most likely tommorow of the updated list of "how things are going".

What it will do is put all the threads into one, and an updated list of how qm will be turned into.

Then id love your counter-opinion of the balance issues.

But for now - what do you think of the maps? What i did was i went down and wrote every single map that isnt in qm in that list. And eliminated the ones i think should not be in qm. Do you think all those maps are worthy of being put into qm?

Lbl and Sedona are fine maps. Top can win on lbl with consistency. I one mapped that for years.

bottom.

Nope. YR is much slower paced than ra2, making it easier for top to win. You got to have the right bo to win. Addmitably bottom always has a better chance, but I wouldn't put it higher than 60/40. I haven't played in a year and half, but if I remember correctly, you make a bunker at the bottom of your base. Go 1 miner from war, keep all your miners up top. When he fast techs, make a couple flak boats/tracks and camp till you got lab. Bunker + deso stops a rush.

Canyon Fodder is a very imbalanced map, once people perfect builds for this map it's virtually impossible to win from some positions. Remove immediately.

I do not like LBL with allied. VS sov at top it sucks. Does anyone agree? Love sedona though.

I disagree... The difference between top and bottom is less significant with allies, because the extra distance to the gems only adds on half the mining time compared to sovs. You can get your refs closer to your gold than bottom can, and you're nearer to the middle ore (which you can defend easily with a tower even vs sov). The bottom player therefore has to go to the right side ore, which makes it easy to split to their miners. I agree with aly: if I could beat someone from bottom, it's unlikely that I'd have any more trouble from top. I never lose to rush there even on ra2, and on yr you can just build gi's.
